Tucson, AZ – Residents across southern Arizona are expected to see a noticeably colder night tonight, as low temperatures dip into the 30s and 40s across much of the region, according to the National Weather Service in Tucson.
According to the National Weather Service, the coldest overnight temperatures are forecast between 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. Monday, with lower desert communities seeing lows in the upper 40s to low 50s, while higher elevations and outlying areas drop closer to the mid-30s. Locations near Willcox could fall to around 35 degrees, while Benson is expected to reach the upper 30s.
Cities including Tucson, Marana, Oro Valley, Green Valley, Sierra Vista, Safford, and Globe will all experience cooler-than-average overnight lows. Phoenix is forecast to bottom out near the mid-50s, while areas farther east and south trend colder.
In addition to the chilly temperatures, breezy conditions are expected Sunday night. Forecast models show peak wind gusts ranging from 15 to 25 mph, with locally higher gusts possible east of Tucson and near the Arizona–New Mexico border. While not damaging, the winds may make temperatures feel colder overnight.
The National Weather Service recommends residents dress in layers, especially if outdoors late at night or early Monday morning. Those in colder rural areas should take precautions to protect sensitive plants, pets, and outdoor plumbing.
While no hard freeze warnings are currently posted for most lower elevations, officials note that cold-sensitive populations should take precautions, particularly overnight and around sunrise.
Temperatures are expected to rebound slightly during the day Monday, though mornings will remain cool across southern Arizona.
