Flagstaff, AZ – Strong winds and incoming snow showers are set to impact northern Arizona through the end of the week. A wind advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday, with gusts reaching 55 mph in some areas. Following this, snow showers are likely to develop by Wednesday and continue into Friday, potentially affecting travel.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Flagstaff, winds from the southwest will range from 20 to 35 mph through Tuesday evening. These gusty conditions could bring down tree limbs and create hazardous driving conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles such as RVs and trailers. Drivers on Interstate 40 and U.S. Route 89 should remain cautious.

By Wednesday, a 30% chance of snow showers is expected, increasing to 50% Thursday and up to 100% by Friday. Overnight lows will drop into the teens, creating the potential for icy roads.

Residents should secure outdoor objects, prepare for possible power outages, and check road conditions before traveling. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) advises motorists to drive with caution and allow extra travel time.
