Phoenix, AZ – A round of isolated showers and thunderstorms is expected to hit the Phoenix area this afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service. The low-pressure system moving across the Desert Southwest will bring additional chances for precipitation, particularly in higher terrain to the north and east of the city.

According to the National Weather Service, rain chances are highest in elevated areas, where the potential for minimal rain accumulation (less than 0.05 inches) exists. Showers are expected to remain scattered, with thunderstorms also possible but localized.

While the rain and thunderstorms are not expected to cause major disruptions, isolated thunderstorms may bring gusty winds, small hail, and wet road conditions. Drivers are urged to remain cautious, especially on higher elevation roads that may become slick.

The weather is expected to clear out later in the evening, with conditions improving overnight. However, residents should continue to monitor local weather updates throughout the day.
