Flagstaff, AZ – Arizona is experiencing an intense warm spell with record-breaking temperatures expected to last through the weekend. From Thursday to Saturday, areas across the state will likely hit or surpass previous high temperature records.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Flagstaff, high temperatures for the upcoming days could exceed long-standing records, with locations like Flagstaff, Camp Verde, and Phantom Ranch seeing extreme heat. Flagstaff is forecasted to reach 75°F on Thursday, just one degree shy of the 74°F record set in 1974. Meanwhile, Camp Verde could hit a sizzling 93°F on Thursday, just six degrees shy of the 99°F record, as the state’s warm spell reaches its peak.
A cooling trend is expected to begin later this weekend, with breezes picking up on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons, offering some relief. But for now, heat safety remains crucial. Residents should stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and avoid outdoor activities during the peak heat hours between 2-5 p.m.
