Phoenix, Ariz. – A surge of early-season heat could push temperatures toward the 90-degree mark across parts of Arizona, with a late-period chance of rain adding a shift in conditions heading into early April.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, the 8-to-14 day outlook from Friday, March 27 through Thursday, April 2 shows well above-normal temperatures across Arizona, with some areas seeing a 60 to 70 percent chance of above-average warmth. This pattern favors a prolonged stretch of dry heat before moisture begins to increase.

In central Arizona, including Phoenix and surrounding metro areas, daytime highs may climb well above seasonal averages, creating elevated heat exposure risks during the afternoon hours. Outdoor activities during peak heat should be limited, and hydration will be key.

Southern Arizona, including Tucson, may see similar warming trends, with temperatures rising steadily through the period. Late in the stretch, a slight increase in moisture could bring isolated showers or thunderstorms, particularly in higher terrain.

Northern Arizona, including Flagstaff, may also trend warmer than normal, though cooler elevations could see more variability with passing systems.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor exposure during peak afternoon heat, and remain alert for changing conditions if rain develops later in the period.

This pattern is expected to evolve into early April, with additional updates likely as moisture and temperature trends become clearer.
