Phoenix, Arizona – A stretch of scorching, summer-like heat is set to build across Arizona this Memorial Day weekend, with Phoenix climbing into the triple digits by Tuesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, Sunday kicks off a prolonged period of dry, sunny weather. Highs will reach 97°F Sunday, then climb to 98°F on Memorial Day. The heat won’t ease at night, with overnight lows hovering near 70°F. By Tuesday, the city hits a high near 101°F, rising to 102°F on Thursday and 103°F by Friday.

Drivers on I-10 through Phoenix and surrounding areas should prepare for rising pavement temperatures and possible vehicle overheating. Residents are urged to limit time outdoors, stay hydrated, and avoid strenuous activity during peak heat hours, especially from noon to 6 p.m.

No rain is expected, and winds remain light throughout the week. The NWS notes that winds will generally shift west to southwest around 5 mph each afternoon before calming overnight. While the heat is typical for late May, these readings mark Phoenix’s first extended run of 100-degree days this year.
