Phoenix, Arizona – Arizona’s Valley of the Sun is heating up fast. By Friday afternoon, Phoenix will sizzle under clear skies and a high of 94°F—just the start of a spring-to-summer pattern that brings 101°F by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, Friday’s heat will intensify through the weekend with sunny skies and southwest winds increasing to 10 mph by Sunday. Gusts could reach 20 mph, particularly late Sunday and into Monday. Saturday will bring a slight dip to 92°F before rebounding with highs of 87°F Sunday and 91°F Monday.

Travelers on Interstate 10 and Valley roads should plan for sun glare and elevated pavement temperatures in the afternoon hours. Keep your vehicle stocked with water, use windshield sunshades, and avoid leaving children or pets in parked cars—even for a minute.

Those sensitive to heat should limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak hours (1–5 p.m.), wear lightweight clothing, and hydrate regularly. Outdoor workers are urged to take frequent breaks and stay shaded.

Temperatures will continue to climb through next week. Tuesday reaches 94°F with light northeast winds shifting west, while Wednesday peaks at a season-first 101°F, a clear sign that summer has arrived early.
