PHOENIX, Ariz. – Arizona’s fall heat shows no sign of breaking as the Valley heads into October with rising daytime highs. Phoenix drivers along I-10 and I-17 should brace for near-triple digit temperatures by Wednesday afternoon, making hydration and vehicle checks essential for commuters.

According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, temperatures will climb from Monday’s 93°F into the mid-90s by Tuesday, peaking near 96°F on Wednesday. Thursday could be even hotter, pushing 98°F across much of the metro before gradual cooling late in the week. Winds remain light, but the dry air and strong sun keep conditions taxing for outdoor workers, students, and anyone spending extended hours outside.

Maricopa County officials advise residents to limit strenuous activity during peak afternoon hours. Heat-related illnesses can strike quickly in early October when many expect cooler fall conditions. Experts also recommend checking vehicles for proper tire pressure and coolant levels, especially for those driving long stretches on I-10 or U.S. 60 this week.

By Friday, highs should dip slightly to the upper 80s before rebounding near 95°F again on Sunday. While this late-season heat is typical for Phoenix, the consistency of 95°F+ highs underscores the need for caution well into October.

Weather alerts remain possible if temperatures push higher than expected or if air quality diminishes under stagnant conditions.
