Phoenix, Ariz. – Arizona’s September heat will push back against fall this Friday as Phoenix prepares for another day near 101°F. Afternoon travel along I-10 and I-17 could become dangerous as asphalt temperatures soar, creating road hazards and extra stress for vehicles. Residents are urged to stay hydrated and limit time outside during peak heat.
According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, the Valley will see highs around 101°F Friday with southwest winds reaching up to 20 mph. Evening relief will be mild, with overnight lows holding in the upper 70s. Despite the clear skies, long stretches outdoors could lead to heat-related illness, especially for vulnerable groups.
Weekend weather will not bring much change. Highs remain locked between 97°F and 99°F Saturday and Sunday, with plenty of sun and light winds. Overnight lows will dip only into the mid-70s, offering little recovery. Officials remind residents to avoid leaving children or pets in vehicles, even briefly, as interior car temperatures can rise dangerously fast.
Outdoor events across Phoenix, Tempe, and Glendale may continue as planned, but event organizers stress the importance of shade, water, and scheduled breaks. Commuters should prepare for strong sun glare during morning and evening rush hours, especially on east–west roads.
Heat remains the top story into early next week. Monday and Tuesday both bring highs near 101°F, with no major cool-down in sight.
Warnings remain in effect, and officials will issue updated advisories if conditions worsen.
