Phoenix, Arizona – Residents across Maricopa County will face a dangerous mix of heat and air pollution through the weekend, with triple-digit highs returning by Sunday and an active Ozone High Pollution Advisory still in effect through Saturday night.

According to the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), stagnant weather conditions and high ozone levels will continue to pose health risks—especially for children, seniors, and those with respiratory conditions. The National Weather Service reports highs of 106°F Sunday and up to 107°F on Monday. Residents should reduce outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours and avoid using gas-powered equipment until late in the day.

Phoenix commuters are urged to carpool, telecommute, or use Valley Metro transit to limit vehicle emissions, especially on major corridors like I-10 and AZ-202. The advisory follows similar early summer warnings issued in past years when stagnant air traps pollutants in the Valley.

The intense heat isn’t backing off anytime soon. Here’s the 5-day Phoenix forecast:

  • Saturday (June 7): Sunny, high near 104°F. Calm winds turning west at 5 mph.
  • Sunday (June 8): Sunny and hot, high 106°F. Light wind shifting west in the afternoon.
  • Monday (June 9): Peak heat, high 107°F. Winds from the southwest, becoming calm overnight.
  • Tuesday (June 10): Sunny, high 106°F. Light southwest breeze.
  • Wednesday (June 11): Sunny, high 106°F. Slight uptick in wind by late day.

Expect heat to hold steady through midweek, with little relief at night—lows stay near 80°F. Additional air quality alerts are possible if calm, dry conditions persist.
