Arizona’s high country is buried in fresh snow this morning, and travel across Flagstaff is turning hazardous fast. Snow showers intensified before daybreak, and wind-driven flakes are sweeping across I-40 and I-17.

According to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 a.m. Heavy snow produced widespread totals between 3 and 6 inches, with 4 to 6 inches reported around Flagstaff and Munds Park. Southwest winds gusting up to 55 mph are creating blowing and drifting snow with sharply reduced visibility.

Bridges and overpasses are especially slick.

At Flagstaff Pulliam Airport, temperatures sit near 27 degrees with wind chills around 12. Visibility has dropped at times as bursts of heavy snow move through.

If you must travel, slow down and allow extra distance.

Snow showers taper after sunrise, but patchy blowing snow may linger through the morning. Highs only reach 33 degrees today, keeping roads snow-covered in shaded areas.

Skies clear tonight, and temperatures plunge to around 8 degrees. Any melting this afternoon will refreeze quickly, raising the risk of flash freezing on untreated roads.

The weekend brings a steady recovery. Saturday turns sunny with a high near 39. Sunday warms to 50 degrees under mostly sunny skies.

Early next week continues the warming trend. Monday climbs to 56 degrees, with mid- to upper-50s holding into Tuesday. The 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures across northern Arizona, signaling a shift toward early spring conditions after this February winter blast.

Five-Day Outlook for Flagstaff:

  • Today: High 33°, heavy snow early, blowing snow.
  • Saturday: High 39°, sunny.
  • Sunday: High 50°, mostly sunny.
  • Monday: High 56°, mostly sunny.
