Flagstaff, Arizona – Wind gusts nearing 40 mph could rattle drivers and delay outdoor plans across Flagstaff by midday Monday as a Wind Advisory takes effect. The National Weather Service warns of dangerous crosswinds along I-40 and U.S. 89, especially from noon to 7 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, a southwest wind between 20 and 25 mph—with gusts peaking at 37 mph—is expected Monday, May 12. These conditions will create hazardous travel for high-profile vehicles, particularly on east-west corridors like Interstate 40. Residents should secure loose outdoor items and avoid unnecessary travel during peak gusts.

Tuesday keeps up the momentum with even stronger winds—gusts may top 47 mph—making it the most blustery day of the week. Temperatures will cool slightly to a high of 63°F. Drivers and pedestrians should be cautious, particularly in open areas or on elevated roadways.

The rest of the week brings some relief. Wednesday will be sunny with highs in the low 60s and calmer breezes up to 15 mph. By Thursday and Friday, temperatures rise into the upper 60s under mostly clear skies, with only light winds forecast.

Expect a full return to spring by the weekend with highs near 67°F on Saturday and manageable gusts below 30 mph.

Wind advisories expire Monday at 7 p.m., but elevated gusts will linger through Tuesday evening. Stay tuned for updated alerts if conditions intensify.
