Flagstaff, AZ – The high country wakes to a frosty 27°F under clear skies — quiet and calm now, but the pattern won’t hold. Arizona’s November weather will flip by week’s end, shifting from sunlit, dry Veterans Day warmth to a wet and potentially snowy Friday across Flagstaff and surrounding Coconino County.

According to the National Weather Service, Veterans Day will bring mostly sunny skies and highs near 67°F — near-perfect weather for ceremonies and outdoor events. Winds remain light through midweek, but the calm won’t last. By Thursday night, a developing storm system out of the Pacific will sweep into northern Arizona, bringing gusts up to 30 mph and a 40–70% chance of rain and snow.

Rain is expected to start late Thursday, then transition to a rain-and-snow mix Friday as highs tumble into the mid-40s. Temperatures could fall into the low 20s Friday night, raising the risk of icy patches on roadways and elevated passes, including stretches of I-40 and U.S. 180 leading into Flagstaff.

This system could mark the region’s first measurable snow of the season — an early sign that winter is edging closer. Residents should prepare vehicles for cold-weather travel and watch for changing road conditions through Friday night. After a brief cool stretch, temperatures rebound slightly by Sunday under clearer skies.
