Phoenix, AZ – Fall may be here on the calendar, but Phoenix is in for another round of intense heat with highs near 100°F expected by Tuesday. Residents should prepare now for elevated health risks, especially during afternoon hours when temperatures will peak. Cooling centers remain available throughout Maricopa County, and those without reliable A/C are urged to make use of them.

According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, a dry high-pressure ridge will dominate through at least Wednesday, sending daytime highs back into the mid to upper 90s. Tuesday and Wednesday will see the most intense heat, with highs near 96°F to 99°F, especially across the city core and along the I-10 corridor. Calm morning winds will shift slightly westward in the afternoons, providing little relief from the sun.

Outdoor workers and vulnerable individuals—including the elderly, children, and pets—should avoid prolonged exposure between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Drink plenty of water and avoid strenuous activity during peak heat. Overnight lows remain warm, hovering in the low 70s, offering limited overnight cooling.

Looking ahead, October kicks off with more sunshine and continued above-average temperatures, though slight cooling may arrive by the weekend. No rainfall is expected through Saturday, keeping fire risk elevated across the region.

Stay weather-aware, especially as seasonal shifts can bring quick changes. An Excessive Heat Statement could be issued if temperatures trend higher.
