PHOENIX, Ariz. – A stretch of classic desert warmth is set to surge back across central Arizona early this week, with afternoon highs near 95 degrees expected by Tuesday. After a mild weekend, temperatures will climb rapidly — prompting early fall heat reminders for anyone heading outdoors, especially along I-10 and throughout Maricopa County.
According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, dry air and light winds will dominate through midweek as a ridge of high pressure strengthens. Daytime highs Monday through Wednesday will range from the low to upper 90s, nearly 10 degrees above seasonal norms for early October. Nights will remain comfortably cool in the mid-60s to low 70s.
Residents planning to visit pumpkin patches, attend outdoor markets, or prepare early Halloween decorations should stay hydrated and avoid extended midday exposure. “Even in October, the desert sun can be intense,” NWS meteorologist Tom Frieders noted Sunday morning. The agency also urged drivers on I-10 and Loop 202 to keep extra water in vehicles and check tire pressure, as hot pavement can increase blowout risks.
Light easterly winds will turn southerly midweek, keeping skies mostly sunny with only a few high clouds Wednesday night. A minor cool-down could approach late week, offering slightly milder conditions heading toward next weekend.
