Phoenix, Arizona – A dangerous stretch of extreme heat is underway across southern Arizona, with temperatures expected to soar past 110°F through Tuesday and peak near 115°F in the Phoenix metro area on Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, an Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through Tuesday, July 1, for much of central and southwestern Arizona, including Maricopa, Pinal, and La Paz counties. Monday will bring the most intense heat, with widespread highs between 113°F and 117°F expected in the lower deserts. The warning covers major cities like Phoenix, Gila Bend, Buckeye, Casa Grande, and Yuma.

Outdoor exposure between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. is strongly discouraged. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity, and check on vulnerable populations. In Maricopa County, free transportation to cooling centers is available daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by calling Arizona 211.

This prolonged heat event is among the most dangerous of the year and may lead to heat-related illness or death without proper precautions.

The warning remains active through Tuesday night, with possible extensions if temperatures don’t subside.
