Tucson, Arizona – Extreme heat is gripping southern Arizona this week, with highs soaring to 113°F and heat-related illnesses likely to spike across Pima and Pinal counties through at least Friday evening. The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for Tucson and surrounding areas, urging residents to stay indoors, hydrate, and avoid outdoor work during peak afternoon hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, dangerously hot conditions will persist through Thursday across most of south-central and southeastern Arizona. Heat indices may reach up to 114°F, especially in areas like Tucson, Marana, Green Valley, and Safford. A slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms could offer minimal relief but may bring shifting winds and increased humidity.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 110°F. A 20% chance of afternoon thunderstorms.

Wednesday: Highs reach 113°F. Expect mostly sunny skies and a slight chance of late-day storms.

Thursday: Near-repeat of Wednesday with 113°F highs and isolated storm chances after 5 p.m.

Friday: Heat eases slightly with a high of 108°F and a 20% chance of storms into the evening.

Saturday: Hot again with a high near 106°F and partly cloudy skies.

Residents are urged to avoid strenuous activity between noon and 6 p.m. when conditions are most severe. Never leave pets or children in vehicles, and check in on vulnerable neighbors. This extreme heat warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Friday, with additional advisories possible if conditions worsen.
