Tucson, Arizona – Dangerous dust storms could sweep across Southern Arizona Tuesday afternoon, reducing visibility to near zero and snarling traffic along major roadways, including I-10 and I-19.
According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, a Blowing Dust Advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. MST today, July 1. Outflow winds from scattered thunderstorms are expected to gust between 40 and 50 mph, sending dust clouds across Pima and Pinal Counties, including Tucson, Green Valley, and the Tohono O’odham Nation.
Drivers should avoid travel between 2 and 8 p.m., especially along open desert stretches like Highway 86 and State Route 286. Visibility could suddenly drop below a quarter mile.
