Arizona – Bright desert sun and calm air are already warming Tucson quickly, and temperatures are set to surge into early-season heat that will feel more like summer than spring.
According to the National Weather Service, sunny skies dominate today with highs reaching near 85°F, while light winds keep conditions calm across Tucson and along I-10 and I-19.
The warming trend continues into Friday, with highs climbing into the mid-80s again under clear skies. Conditions remain dry, and visibility stays excellent for travel, but the sun will feel increasingly intense during the afternoon.
By Saturday, temperatures reach around 90°F, marking the first true heat spike of the season. Pavement temperatures will rise quickly, and shaded areas will offer limited relief during peak heating hours.
Sunday brings the peak of this stretch. Highs climb to near 91°F with full sunshine, creating elevated heat exposure risks for hikers and outdoor plans across the Tucson metro, including areas near Saguaro National Park.
Unlike other parts of the country dealing with storms, Tucson remains dry. No rain is expected, and skies stay mostly clear through the weekend. That means continuous sun exposure with little cooling influence from clouds.
Looking ahead, early next week keeps the warm pattern locked in, with highs staying near 90°F before gradually easing slightly. Longer-range signals suggest above-normal temperatures will continue into mid-April.
If you’re heading outdoors, hydrate often and avoid peak afternoon sun when possible. Are you feeling the first real heat of the season yet?
