Flagstaff, AZ – Temperatures are climbing quickly across Arizona today, with dry air and building heat creating a sharp shift from recent showers to early-season warmth by this afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, lingering light showers in Apache County will taper off by early afternoon, with dry conditions expanding statewide shortly after 2 p.m. High temperatures will surge into the upper 80s and low 90s across central Arizona, including Phoenix, while northern cities like Flagstaff warm into the upper 70s.

By Wednesday afternoon, heat intensifies further. Phoenix is expected to reach the mid-90s, while Sedona, Prescott, and Payson climb into the 80s. Even higher elevations across northern Arizona will see above-normal highs pushing near 80°F.

The warming trend also brings increasing fire weather concerns. Dry air combined with warming temperatures will lower humidity levels, especially across central and western Arizona, raising the risk for rapid fire spread.

Drivers and outdoor workers should plan for warmer conditions during peak afternoon hours. Hydration and limiting strenuous outdoor activity will be key, especially in lower elevations.

Dry and warm conditions are expected to persist through midweek, with additional updates likely if fire weather concerns increase.
