Phoenix, AZ – Flood repair work is now underway along US 60 between Superior and the Globe-Miami area, following severe roadway damage from the Oct. 12 flood.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), the State Transportation Board approved $3 million in emergency funding on Thursday, Oct. 23, to rebuild washed-out embankments and repair damaged roadway sections. Work began Monday, Oct. 20, with the goal of restoring two lanes of travel as quickly as possible.

Motorists should expect one-way traffic control and delays near milepost 241, west of Miami. ADOT says this setup is expected to last 3–4 weeks, causing average 15-minute delays that could increase during peak travel times. Drivers are urged to use caution and plan for extra travel time.

Additionally, ADOT reminds travelers of previously scheduled closures for bridge replacement work between Superior and Globe. These closures occur as needed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Detours via State Routes 177 and 77 through Winkelman will add about 75 miles to the trip.

This project aims to restore safe travel through one of eastern Arizona’s key highway corridors while flood recovery continues.
