Kayenta, Arizona – Drivers along US 160 in northeastern Arizona will face immediate slowdowns starting Monday morning as a 24-mile construction project resumes, reducing traffic to a single lane during daytime hours.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, lane restrictions will run between mileposts 416 and 440 east of Kayenta, with alternating traffic in place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until noon on Fridays. No work is scheduled on weekends, but weekday travel delays are expected.

The impacted stretch includes areas near Dennehotso, Sand Springs, and Mexican Water, where drivers should plan for reduced speeds and possible wait times through work zones.

Crews will replace worn pavement, upgrade guardrails, and improve overall roadway safety as part of the project, which is expected to continue through late July.

Motorists are urged to allow extra travel time, watch for flagging operations, and be prepared for sudden stops. ADOT says additional updates will be provided as work progresses through the summer months.
