Tucson, Arizona – Triple-digit heat returns to southern Arizona Sunday with scattered thunderstorms that could bring flash flooding, gusty winds, and sudden road hazards across Tucson and surrounding highways.

According to the National Weather Service, Tucson faces a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m. Sunday, with temperatures soaring to 106°F. Light winds from the west will pick up slightly during the afternoon. Expect increasing cloud cover throughout the day, especially near I-10 and I-19, where isolated cells may develop and impact visibility during the evening drive.

Localized downpours, lightning, and wind gusts may disrupt travel, especially in areas with poor drainage. If driving, avoid low-lying crossings and be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions. Outdoor plans should include shelter options and plenty of water.

Monday continues the storm pattern, with a 40% chance of afternoon thunderstorms and a high near 105°F, keeping the heat index elevated. Storms will linger into Monday night, continuing the flash flood and power outage risk.

Looking ahead, the daily storm pattern holds steady Tuesday through Thursday, with 50% chances of thunderstorms each day and temperatures gradually dipping to the upper 90s by Thursday and Friday. While slightly cooler, the combination of lingering humidity and monsoon activity will keep conditions uncomfortable.
