Phoenix, Arizona – Brutal summer heat will dominate the weekend in Arizona, with temperatures soaring past 110°F and health risks rapidly rising across Maricopa County.

According to the National Weather Service, an Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect from 10 a.m. Sunday through 8 p.m. Tuesday, with highs reaching 112°F Sunday and 114°F Monday. Cities including Phoenix, Mesa, Glendale, and Chandler are under the warning. Daytime activity should be limited, especially for those along the I-10 corridor, where asphalt and vehicle interiors can heat to deadly levels within minutes.

Residents are urged to seek air-conditioned spaces, wear light clothing, and stay hydrated. Maricopa County residents can dial 2-1-1 or visit maricopa.gov/heat for cooling center locations and free transportation options.

An Air Quality Alert is also in effect through Friday night, citing high ozone levels that may cause breathing difficulties — particularly for children, seniors, and people with respiratory conditions. Outdoor exercise is not advised during peak heat hours.
