Phoenix, AZ – Phoenix has already broken the all-time record for consecutive days with temperatures over 100°F, and the extreme heat streak is set to end this Sunday after 114 days. The previous record, set in 1993, was 76 days, making this summer the hottest on record by far.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Phoenix will continue to experience high temperatures this week, with today’s forecast reaching 107°F and Thursday seeing a high of 114°F. While temperatures will remain above 100°F for the next few days, a cooling trend is expected to begin over the weekend. By Sunday, temperatures are predicted to fall to 93°F, finally ending the sweltering streak.
The excessive heat has prompted ongoing warnings for residents to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged outdoor activity. The NWS advises extra caution for travelers on I-10 and surrounding areas, as extreme heat can still affect vehicle performance, especially during peak hours.
Phoenix residents are eagerly awaiting relief as the brutal heat wave comes to an end. Local cooling centers and public resources will remain available as temperatures gradually lower.
