Flagstaff, Ariz. – Afternoon storms will continue to build across northern Arizona this week, bringing heavy rain, lightning, and possible flash flooding through Saturday evening. Travelers and residents in Flagstaff and surrounding communities could see localized flooding on roads and trail systems as daily monsoon storms develop.

According to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, storm chances rise sharply beginning Thursday afternoon, with a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms expected. Storms will remain likely Friday and Saturday, with rainfall rates capable of creating flash flooding in low-lying areas and washes. The strongest storms could produce gusty winds and dangerous lightning.

Thursday’s high will reach near 88 degrees before storms move in, dropping daytime highs into the mid-80s Friday and Saturday as clouds increase. Overnight lows will remain in the upper 50s to low 60s, keeping conditions mild outside of storms.

Residents are advised to avoid travel on flood-prone roads, secure outdoor gear ahead of storms, and keep an eye on updated watches and warnings. Lightning safety is also emphasized, with people urged to move indoors when storms approach.
