Flagstaff, AZ – Yavapai County is facing dangerously high temperatures today, with an excessive heat warning in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Temperatures are expected to reach or exceed 110 degrees, posing a serious risk to residents.

According to the National Weather Service, heat levels will range between 105 and 111 degrees in areas below 3,000 feet, including Black Canyon City and Wickenburg Ranch. Hydration and avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat hours (7 a.m. to 8 p.m.) are critical. Officials recommend wearing light, loose clothing and taking frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.

The heatwave is forecast to continue through Friday, with minor relief expected over the weekend as scattered thunderstorms may develop. Thunderstorms are expected to be most numerous south of the Mogollon Rim. Despite some weekend cooling, caution remains crucial, as conditions will still be warmer than average.

Residents should monitor local forecasts and consider postponing non-essential outdoor activities. For the latest updates, visit weather.gov/Flagstaff.
