PHOENIX, AZ — A freeze warning is in effect for central La Paz County, including the Aguila Valley, beginning at 10 p.m. Monday and lasting until 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The National Weather Service in Phoenix reports that temperatures will drop to the upper 20s overnight, posing risks to sensitive vegetation, including crops. Areas such as Salome, Wickenburg, and Quartzsite are expected to experience significant frost conditions.

According to the advisory, residents should take immediate precautions to protect tender plants from the cold. Covering plants with blankets or tarps and moving potted plants indoors are recommended steps. The warning also highlights that prolonged exposure could harm unprotected outdoor infrastructure, including irrigation systems.

Temperatures are forecast to rise after 9 a.m. Tuesday, but the chilly conditions mark a notable shift from typical winter lows in this region. Residents should remain vigilant and take additional precautions for pets and livestock.
