Tucson, AZ – Critical fire weather conditions continue to threaten much of Southeast Arizona, with a Red Flag Warning in effect through 8 p.m. Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, strong southwest winds between 15 to 25 mph with gusts reaching 35 mph, combined with relative humidity as low as 3 percent, will create extremely dangerous fire conditions. The warning affects Fire Weather Zones 150 through 154, covering areas including Pima, Pinal, Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, and Santa Cruz counties.

The alert, which began Saturday afternoon, will resume Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Officials urge residents in the Tucson metropolitan area and surrounding counties to avoid outdoor burning or any activity that could spark a fire. Fires that ignite may spread quickly and behave erratically.

Fire agencies and land managers are on high alert. Vegetation across the region remains dry, increasing the risk of fast-moving wildfires.

Residents should secure outdoor items, stay informed via local alerts, and report any signs of smoke or fire immediately. Use extreme caution with vehicles, tools, or open flames.

Officials remind the public that a Red Flag Warning means weather conditions are ideal for wildfires to start and spread rapidly.
