Phoenix, Arizona – Relentless heat will grip the Phoenix area this weekend, with temperatures soaring as high as 114°F and triggering a critical Extreme Heat Warning from 10 a.m. Saturday through 8 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Phoenix.
The warning spans much of south-central Arizona, including cities like Scottsdale, Tempe, Chandler, and Goodyear. Afternoon highs between 106°F and 114°F will dominate the forecast from Friday, June 13 into Monday, June 16, with Major Heat Risk for heat exhaustion or stroke.
Residents are urged to avoid outdoor activities from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., especially along I-10, I-17, and local roadways where pavement temperatures can exceed 150°F. Cooling centers across Maricopa County are open — dial 2-1-1 or visit maricopa.gov/heat for free water and transportation options.
On Father’s Day (Sunday), expect highs near 112°F, with hot, sunny skies and calm winds offering little relief. Lightweight clothing, hydration, and shaded environments are essential. If symptoms of heat exhaustion emerge, seek a cool space immediately and call 911 in emergencies.
The heat will begin to ease slightly Tuesday, though highs will remain in the low 100s. No rain is forecast.
