Tucson, Arizona – Triple-digit heat will blanket southern Arizona starting Saturday morning, with Tucson expected to reach a scorching 111°F through Monday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, an Extreme Heat Watch is in effect from June 14 to June 16 across nine counties, including Pima, Pinal, Cochise, and Graham. Daytime highs will range from 100° to 111°, posing serious health risks, especially in the Tucson metro area, the Upper Gila River Valley, and the Tohono O’odham Nation.
Cities such as Marana, Green Valley, Safford, and Nogales should prepare for oppressive daytime heat. Outdoor workers and residents without air conditioning are especially vulnerable. Authorities urge Arizonans to stay hydrated, avoid mid-day sun, and check on elderly neighbors. Road crews and utility workers are advised to reschedule strenuous tasks to the early morning.
Local emergency services remind the public that vehicle interiors can reach fatal temperatures within minutes. Never leave children or pets inside parked cars.
The heat wave may ease after Monday, but further advisories could follow if conditions persist.
