Taylor, AZ – A minor earthquake registering a magnitude of 3.2 struck approximately 12 kilometers west of Taylor, Arizona, on Tuesday evening. The tremor occurred at a depth of 5 kilometers.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the quake was recorded at 7:42 p.m. UTC on March 18. Six individuals have reported feeling the tremor through the USGS’s “Did You Feel It?” system. The reported intensity level was rated as “III” on the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale, indicating weak shaking with no expected damage.
Seismic activity in Arizona is relatively uncommon but not unprecedented. The state has experienced occasional minor quakes, especially in northern regions near fault lines. Residents in the affected area are encouraged to report their experiences to USGS to aid in data collection.
