Phoenix, AZ – Drivers in Arizona should prepare for significant road closures and lane restrictions this week, with planned maintenance on Interstate 10 (I-10), Loop 202, State Route 87, and State Route 195. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) advises motorists to expect delays and plan alternate routes.

According to ADOT, westbound I-10 in Phoenix will be closed between 35th and 83rd avenues from 9 p.m. Friday, March 21, to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22. Eastbound I-10 will be closed in the same area from 9 p.m. Saturday, March 22, to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 23. Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) ramps to I-10 in both directions will also be shut down. Detours are available via McDowell Road and Van Buren Street to reconnect with the freeway.

Further south, State Route 87 in Coolidge will have daytime alternating lane closures on Wednesday, March 19, for guardrail work at the Kleck Road Intersection Improvements Project. These restrictions will be in place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a 12-foot vehicle width limit and a speed reduction to 25 mph.

Additionally, in the Yuma area, State Route 195 (Araby Road) will be reduced to one lane between Avenue E and 32nd Street on Friday, March 14, for pavement preservation work. This restriction will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a 14-foot width limit and a speed reduction to 55 mph.

Drivers are encouraged to check real-time road conditions via the AZ511 website or mobile app before traveling.
