Boston, MA – The National Weather Service in Boston is warning residents across Massachusetts and southern New England to brace for an arctic blast today, with highs in the 20s to low 30s and wind chills in the single digits and teens.

According to the NWS, cold air moving in behind an arctic front will combine with breezy northwest winds to make it feel much colder than the actual air temperature. The wind chill forecast shows values as low as 5–10°F in many inland areas early this morning, with coastal locations only slightly warmer.

Cities such as Worcester, Springfield, and Lowell could feel near zero at times, while Boston and Providence will see apparent temperatures in the mid-teens through much of the day.

Forecasters urge residents to bundle up, limit time outdoors, and watch for signs of frostbite or hypothermia, particularly during early morning and evening hours when temperatures will be coldest.

Conditions will remain chilly into Tuesday morning before a gradual midweek warm-up.
