Philadelphia, PA – The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ, says it’s time to bundle up. The region’s first major arctic blast of the season will sweep through overnight, bringing frigid temperatures and biting wind chills to much of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland on Monday and Tuesday.

By Monday morning, air temperatures will drop into the 20s, with wind chills in the teens for most of the area — and even single digits in some northern and inland spots.

Highs Monday will struggle to reach freezing or slightly above, ranging from 30–34°F across most of the region. Wind chills are expected to stay in the teens and 20s throughout the day, making for a bitterly cold start to the workweek.

The coldest conditions will arrive Monday night, when lows fall into the single digits and teens. Although winds will relax somewhat, lingering cold air will keep temperatures well below normal into Tuesday morning.

Forecasters advise residents to dress in layers, limit time outdoors, and protect pets and pipes from the extreme chill.
