Paducah, KY – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Paducah says a strong Arctic front will sweep through the region this weekend, bringing the coldest air of the season so far to western Kentucky, southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, and southwest Indiana.
After morning dense fog on Saturday, a cold front will push through tonight, possibly bringing light rain showers mainly east of the Mississippi River. Behind the front, temperatures will plunge, with highs only in the 30s and 40s Monday and Tuesday.
Morning wind chills will dip into the teens and 20s, and a few flurries or light snow showers are possible east of the Mississippi River.
By midweek, warmer air returns, with highs rebounding into the 60s by Wednesday under sunny skies.
Forecasters urge residents to dress warmly, protect pets and sensitive plants, and use caution if traveling in the early mornings due to lingering frost or slick spots.
