Centennial, CO – A scooter crash late Wednesday night in Arapahoe County ended with a man in custody on multiple charges, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the crash happened just before 11:00 p.m. on September 13 in the 8800 block of East Florida Avenue. When Deputy Wilmer approached the rider, identified as 32-year-old Tay Von Argusta, to check for injuries, he allegedly began acting erratically and ignored commands to sit on the curb.

According to the sheriff’s office, Argusta moved toward the crashed scooter, where the deputy noticed a handgun on the ground. When Argusta appeared to reach for the weapon, the deputy drew his service firearm and ordered him to stop. Officials said Argusta ignored commands and ran into a nearby apartment complex.

After a brief foot chase, deputies said Argusta was subdued with a Taser and taken into custody. Investigators later determined that the scooter had been reported stolen out of Denver.

Authorities added that Argusta was already wanted on an active felony warrant for fraud. He was booked into the Arapahoe County Jail on a no-bond hold. In addition to the warrant, he now faces charges of motor vehicle theft, obstructing a peace officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, violation of a protection order, and failure to appear.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office shared details of the arrest on social media, reminding residents that deputies will track down individuals who flee from law enforcement.
