Centennial, CO – A 69-year-old woman was rescued by Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies after slipping onto a roof and dangling over the edge Saturday in the 6500 block of S. Lisbon Ct.

According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called on November 18 after caretakers reported the woman had fallen while stepping out of a second-story window. When deputies arrived, they found the woman lying on her back with her legs hanging off the roofline, bracing herself against the gutter as caretakers held her in place from ladders below.

Deputy Witzman quickly grabbed another ladder, and he and Deputy Bullard climbed onto the roof while Deputy Perez assisted from the ground. According to officials, the deputies were able to pull the woman safely away from the edge and guide her back inside through a nearby window. She was not injured.

The residence was later identified as a host home for older adults living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Caretakers told deputies they had been hanging Christmas lights when the woman opened the window, stepped outside onto the roof, and slipped. The caretakers feared she would fall from the second-story height and kept hold of her until deputies arrived.

The sheriff’s office publicly thanked Deputies Witzman, Bullard, and Perez for their quick teamwork, calling the effort an example of fast, coordinated action that prevented a dangerous fall.

Residents in the area reported no further safety concerns, and officials said no additional medical treatment was required.
