Green Bay, WI – A disruptive mix of snow, sleet, and thunderstorms is expected to create hazardous conditions across northeast Wisconsin today and into Wednesday evening.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of central and northern Wisconsin, with snowfall totals reaching 1 to 4 inches in some areas, including Green Bay, Appleton, and areas along Interstate 43. Icy roads and reduced visibility may challenge commuters tonight into Wednesday morning. Minor ice accumulation could occur north and west of the Fox Valley.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, the most intense wintry mix will fall between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m. Wednesday, followed by potential strong thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon. Hail and gusty winds could accompany the storms, particularly across east-central Wisconsin.
Drivers are urged to avoid unnecessary travel during the morning hours Wednesday. Road crews may be delayed by rapid snowfall rates and slick conditions. Residents should prepare for scattered power outages and downed tree limbs during storms later in the day.
Spotters are encouraged to report snow and ice totals to the Green Bay weather office.
