Jackson, Kentucky – Warmer air is quickly settling into eastern Kentucky, pushing temperatures into the 80s while setting the stage for increasing storm chances that could impact travel by midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, a weak disturbance will bring scattered showers across the region today, with rain chances between 20 and 40 percent. Conditions turn warmer Tuesday, with highs climbing into the upper 70s to low 80s across cities like Jackson, London, and Pikeville.
The more impactful weather arrives Wednesday as a cold front approaches from the northwest. Rain chances increase to 40 to 70 percent, with thunderstorms becoming more likely during the afternoon and evening hours. Roads along the Mountain Parkway and U.S. 23 could see slick conditions during heavier downpours.
Temperatures remain above normal through the period, peaking between 78 and 84 degrees before gradually cooling late week. Additional scattered storms remain possible Thursday and Friday, though coverage becomes more uncertain.
Residents should plan for changing conditions by midweek, especially during the Wednesday commute. More advisories may be issued as storm timing becomes clearer.
