Charleston, WV – Residents across West Virginia can expect several days of warm, dry weather before rain chances return midweek, according to the National Weather Service in Charleston.

A dominant high-pressure system will keep skies mostly sunny through Monday, with afternoon highs reaching the low to mid-80s in the lowlands and the 60s to low 70s across the mountains. Overnight lows are forecast in the 50s for most areas, while the northeast mountains may see cooler readings in the upper 30s to mid-40s.

According to the NWS, a shift in the pattern arrives late Tuesday as a cold front pushes into the region. This system is expected to bring showers and the possibility of thunderstorms into Wednesday. Forecast highs will dip into the 70s with nighttime lows in the 40s and 50s once the front moves through.

The dry stretch should make for ideal outdoor plans through the weekend, though travelers are advised to prepare for changing conditions beginning Tuesday afternoon. Commuters and residents should also keep an eye on updated forecasts as thunderstorm chances increase midweek.
