Antelope, CA – A 44-year-old Antelope man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly attempting to arrange a meeting with someone he believed was a 13-year-old girl in an online exploitation case, authorities said.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Computer Crimes Investigation Unit (CCIU), the suspect was taken into custody on Tuesday, July 2, following a joint undercover operation involving the Turlock Police Department and the Sacramento Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. Investigators allege the man sent explicit messages and attempted to arrange an in-person encounter, not realizing he was communicating with an undercover CHP investigator.
Officials said the arrest followed weeks of investigation and collaboration with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office. The suspect has allegedly been charged with attempted lewd acts with a child under 14 and sending harmful material to a minor, among other offenses.
The CCIU investigates computer-facilitated crimes and works with local, state, and federal agencies across California to combat online exploitation. The unit also handles digital forensic analysis and cyber investigations and conducts proactive child sexual abuse material (CSAM) operations. According to CHP, the CCIU is expanding its capacity to conduct surveillance, execute search warrants, and recover digital evidence in partnership with the Sacramento ICAC Task Force.
Authorities said the CHP remains committed to protecting children and ensuring the safety of California residents.
