Annandale, Virginia – A Wind Advisory remains in effect for Annandale and surrounding portions of Northern Virginia until noon Tuesday as strong west winds continue to impact the region, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters report sustained west winds between 20 and 30 miles per hour, with gusts reaching 45 to 50 miles per hour at times. While a brief lull in wind speeds is possible during the early morning hours, winds are expected to increase again before gradually subsiding later today.

As of early Tuesday morning, conditions near Fort Belvoir showed overcast skies with temperatures around 31 degrees. Wind chills were measured near 21 degrees due to the persistent gusts. Similar conditions are expected across Fairfax County and nearby areas through the end of the advisory period.

According to the National Weather Service, the primary impacts include blowing around unsecured outdoor objects, downed tree limbs, and the potential for a few isolated power outages. Winds of this strength may also make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles such as trucks, buses, and vans traveling on exposed roadways.

Scattered flurries are possible overnight into early Tuesday, but no significant snow accumulation is expected. Skies are forecast to become mostly sunny later today, with high temperatures reaching the mid-30s. Despite improving skies, breezy conditions may linger into the afternoon hours.

Winds are expected to diminish Tuesday night, with calmer conditions developing Wednesday. Highs on Wednesday are forecast near 41 degrees, followed by another chance of light snow showers late Wednesday night into early Thursday, though accumulation is expected to be minimal.

The gusty conditions may affect morning commuters, students, and outdoor workers across the region. Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor items, exercise caution while driving, and remain alert for falling debris.
