ANNANDALE, VA – A breezy Sunday is expected across Northern Virginia, bringing gusts of up to 25 mph inland and 30 mph along coastal areas. Warmer temperatures will follow as Thanksgiving week approaches, but a cold front midweek could bring rain and cooler weather.

According to the National Weather Service, Sunday will feature highs near 57 degrees with mostly sunny skies. Winds will reach 10 to 18 mph, gradually diminishing by Sunday evening as temperatures dip to a low of 37 degrees. Drivers along major roadways like Route 50 and the George Washington Memorial Parkway should remain alert for gusty conditions, particularly in open areas.

Monday will mark a shift toward warmer conditions with highs reaching 63 degrees. Winds will calm, offering a pleasant start to the work week. Monday night, however, brings a 40% chance of rain after midnight as a cold front pushes through.

By Tuesday, highs will reach near 60 degrees with partly sunny skies. Overnight temperatures will drop to the mid-30s. Rain chances return Wednesday night, potentially impacting Thanksgiving travel plans across the region.

Residents should secure lightweight outdoor items like decorations and trash bins ahead of Sunday’s windier conditions. Those traveling midweek are advised to check forecasts regularly as rain could disrupt plans.
