Ann Arbor, Michigan – An 18-year-old was arrested this week in connection with a shots fired incident that occurred last month at a residential property in Ann Arbor.

According to the Ann Arbor Police Department, officers located and arrested Marcus Claybron Jr., 18, on Tuesday, at a residence in Belleville, following an investigation into a shooting reported on Dec. 30. The arrest was made without incident.

Police said the incident occurred at approximately 6:50 a.m. in the 3000 block of Valencia Circle, where more than two dozen rounds were fired into a residence. No one was struck by the gunfire, and no injuries were reported. Investigators believe the shooting was a targeted attack and not a random act.

During a search of the Belleville residence, officers allegedly recovered three firearms and a switch converter kit, a device used to illegally modify semiautomatic firearms to fire automatically. The Ann Arbor Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office.

On Wednesday, Claybron Jr. was arraigned in 14A-1 District Court on charges including assault with intent to murder, firearms — convert semiautomatic to fully automatic, and weapons felony firearm, according to police. His bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety, and he remains lodged at the Washtenaw County Jail.

Ann Arbor Police Chief Andre Anderson said the recovery of multiple firearms and an illegal conversion device underscored the seriousness of the threat posed to the community. He credited investigators’ diligence and persistence with identifying the suspect and preventing potential future violence.

For residents, students, and commuters in the Valencia Circle area, police emphasized that timely reporting and investigative follow-up were critical in resolving the case.

The investigation remains ongoing.

All suspects and arrestees are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
