Ann Arbor, MI – A Livonia man was killed in a fatal incident involving a gravel hauler Tuesday afternoon in Ann Arbor.
According to the Ann Arbor Police Department, officers responded around 4 p.m. April 15 to the area of Pauline Boulevard near Hutchins Avenue after a 64-year-old man was found unresponsive beneath a tractor trailer. The victim, reportedly the truck’s driver, suffered trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary findings suggest the man was reconnecting a trailer after delivering sand to a nearby construction site when he was allegedly struck by the vehicle. Investigators believe he was in the process of attaching the front trailer to the rear when the accident occurred.
Pauline Boulevard was closed between Main and 7th Street during the investigation and reopened around 9:30 p.m. The Ann Arbor Fire Department, Michigan State Police, and Huron Valley Ambulance assisted at the scene.
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing. No additional details about the driver’s identity have been released pending notification of next of kin.
Anyone with information is urged to contact AAPD’s traffic investigation unit.
