Amarillo, TX – A Freeze Warning is in effect for parts of the southeastern Texas Panhandle Monday morning, as temperatures drop into the mid-20s before a sharp warm-up later this week, according to the National Weather Service in Amarillo.

Overnight lows are expected to range from 23°F to 26°F, with wind chills in the teens making for a frigid Monday commute. The cold air will quickly give way to sunny skies and warming conditions by the afternoon, with highs reaching around 65°F.

Forecasters say the pattern will shift toward milder, breezy weather through midweek, with daytime temperatures climbing into the mid-70s by Tuesday and nearing 80°F by Thursday. Winds will remain light to moderate, with gusts up to 25 mph at times.

The National Weather Service advises residents to protect outdoor plants and exposed pipes overnight. Despite the morning freeze, no significant weather hazards are expected for the remainder of the week, though light showers may return by the weekend.
