Amarillo, TX – Residents of the Texas Panhandle and the western Oklahoma Panhandle should prepare for cooler temperatures tonight, with lows dipping into the mid-60s to lower 70s. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Amarillo has also indicated the possibility of isolated thunderstorms in the region, particularly affecting areas west of the Oklahoma Panhandle.
According to the NWS, towns such as Clayton, Boise City, and Guymon may experience scattered thunderstorms as the evening progresses. While these storms are expected to be isolated, they could bring sudden downpours, gusty winds, and localized lightning.
The NWS also forecasts partly cloudy skies across much of the Texas Panhandle, with temperatures staying mild, ranging from 65°F in Guymon to 72°F in Borger. As the night progresses, the chance of thunderstorms will decrease, leading to a calmer, cool night overall.
Residents are advised to monitor local weather updates and stay indoors if thunderstorms develop. The cooler temperatures are expected to continue into the week, providing some relief from the summer heat across the region.
