Amarillo, Texas – Showers and isolated thunderstorms will keep parts of the Texas Panhandle damp through Saturday before drier weather moves in to close out the weekend. Drivers may face wet roads overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning as storms continue to develop across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, overnight rain chances sit at 50% with scattered thunderstorms possible until early Thursday. Clouds will linger most of Thursday with highs in the upper 70s, while a brief clearing Thursday night will give way to more unsettled conditions by Saturday.

Friday looks to be the driest stretch, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-80s. But showers and a few thunderstorms return Saturday afternoon, with gusty south winds up to 25 mph expected. Those storms should taper off by late Saturday night, setting up a sunny, calmer Sunday with highs nearing 90.

Residents are advised to watch for brief downpours, possible lightning, and reduced visibility on highways including I-40 and US-287. Outdoor plans late this week may need flexibility until storms clear by Sunday morning.

Warnings remain limited for now, but additional advisories may be issued if stronger storms organize.
