Amarillo, TX – Residents of the Texas Panhandle can expect a sunny and breezy Friday with high temperatures nearing 58 degrees. Winds from the southwest will reach speeds of 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph, making for brisk conditions throughout the day.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will drop significantly Friday night, with lows reaching 24 degrees. A chance of light snow begins Saturday morning, especially in the western and central Panhandle. Areas could see accumulations of up to 1 to 3 inches by evening.
Saturday’s high is expected to hover near 30 degrees, with strong north winds producing gusts up to 20 mph, creating biting wind chills between 8 and 13 degrees. Residents should prepare for icy roads and reduced visibility in areas where snowfall accumulates.
Looking ahead, Sunday will bring mostly sunny skies but cold temperatures, with a high near 27 degrees. Monday’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day forecast includes a 20% chance of snow showers and slightly warmer highs near 24 degrees. Another round of snow showers is possible Monday night into Tuesday, with lows plunging to 8 degrees.
